Precision Shaft Repair & Chrome Plating

Restoration of worn shafts through pre-grind, chrome plating, and finish grinding.

Focused on recovering functional accuracy and surface integrity.

Precision Shaft Repair Process

1. Pre-Grinding

Worn or damaged shafts are first precision ground to:

  • Remove surface damage
  • Eliminate scoring or wear
  • Establish controlled base geometry
  • Prepare the surface for plating

Hard chrome plating is applied to restore material thickness and provide:

  • Wear resistance
  • Surface hardness
  • Corrosion resistance
  • Dimensional build-up

Following plating, shafts are precision ground to final specification.

Finish grinding ensures:

  • Accurate diameter restoration
  • Concentricity and roundness control
  • Specified surface finish achievement
  • Compliance with functional tolerances

Applications

Our shaft repair and chrome plating services support:

  • Industrial shafts
  • Hydraulic rods
  • Bearing journals
  • Wear surfaces
  • Machine components
  • Spindle-related components (grinding and restoration only)

Hard Chrome Grinding Capability

HMPG provides:

  • Chrome plating and finish grinding
  • Restoration of worn diameters
  • Correction of out-of-round shafts
  • Production and batch repair work
  • Large shaft capability

Cylindrical Grinding Capacity

  • Up to 590mm diameter
  • Up to 2.7 metres in length

This allows restoration of both large industrial shafts and smaller precision components.

Surface Finish &
Dimensional Control

Shaft repair requires controlled process sequencing to maintain:

  • Diameter accuracy
  • Concentricity
  • Roundness
  • Surface finish specification

Inspection and calibrated surface testing equipment are used to confirm compliance before completion.
